So long, Planters!

Treeline gang

Silly Treeliners!

Yesterday was Treeline’s last day on-site at Smoothwater! It was a good week, and it went by so fast! This group brought a really great energy to Smoothwater, and there was lots of laughing, singing and good conversation. Their positivity was striking, shining through several days of rain, constant swarms of mosquitoes, and a close-proximity bear sighting!

Since the group would leave for work early and get back to camp late, we didn’t see much of them outside of mealtimes. The best part of each day was when the bus would return and the dining room would fill with chatty, hungry people ready for their dinner! Feeding tree planters was certainly an educational experience. Lessons learned? They’re even hungrier than you think! Also, they have a remarkably tolerance for PB&J. It was fun to play camp cook and recreate some of the comfort food dishes we remember from summer camp, such as the infamous tuna pea wiggle! The favourite meals from the week, apart from the aforementioned tuna noodle casserole? Chili & cornbread, hotdogs & hamburgers, and pork chops with mashed potatoes & gravy.

Favourite meals of the week - tree planter editionSo good bye Planters, and good luck this summer! May the food always be plentiful, the days sunny, and the ground cooperative.
