Spring is (finally!) springing in Temagami! There’s still some snow in the bush, but around the lodge we’re seeing more and more green. Rhubarb, lovage, and french sorrel (the old stalwarts of our garden) are back after their winter slumber, and it’s so nice to see growth in the garden despite the bad weather and our consequent lack of attention.
We still have lots of rhubarb in the freezer, so we’re on a mission to use it up and make space for this season’s crop. Pies, cakes, crumbles, and cocktails will abound!
It’s really interesting to see the different rates at which plants are sprouting and blossoming. For instance, we have one clump of daffodils that is in its prime, while the petals of all the others are still tightly furled.
There’s a lot of variance amongst the pussy willows, too – some have barely made an appearance, and others have already exploded with golden pollen.
We can’t wait to see what pops up next!
